Paper Art Creations Classroom
This project is all about connections. How we are connected to ourselves, to others, to the world, and to something greater. Each page in the journal will reference our relationships in life, our connections to what and who we love, and the connections we have made in this amazing community. The artistic element I
have chosen to weave together our community is a red thread. A red thread will be evident in a variety of ways, from a bit of stitching on a cluster, a dangle of red threads peeking from behind a photo, a threaded button, or ephemera wrapped in a
bit of thread. Each page will remind us of relationships we have formed, linking one thing to another, to the people, communities, and things we relate to.
This journal is abstract in design and can be made from something you like working with. It could be a specific size of loose art cards, a small handmade journal, folios, or whatever you like. I kept it small, so it fits in the palm of my hand, held in a fabric wrap and cherished, as I clutch it tight.
The papers and items you select to make your pages with can be found in your creative stash. Choose elements in nature to work with, if you feel connected to nature. Connections to family may include specific photos or momentos.
Connections to communities may include some favorite swaps, or makes, that have inspired you.
This is a guided lesson, where I will be supplying a variety of products to make 3” x 5” cards based on particular prompts. This will give you a good start to how we use art processes and techniques to realize our connections. From there, you can
continue the journey in other forms.
